My father is in a nurseing home for long term care, he has demtria. So need to get medicaid and want to take their name off it ,so they can't take away from them

Hi bbarhydt,

It depends on what type of POA you have. If the POA allows you the right to transfer property on your parents' behalf, you can transfer the property in your name. But you should keep in mind that Medicaid does have a look back period of 5 years, which is a time period that Medicaid office can review an applicant's finances. Thus, a transfer made within the look back period can affect the applicant's Medicaid eligibility. There are exceptions though.
