MY DAD SIGNED HIS HOME OVER TO ME. I SIGNED THE PAPERS IN 2000. HE NO LONGER SPEAKS TO ME AND HAS GOTTEN MARRIED IN 2008. HE HAD HIS LAWYER SEND ME A QUIT CLAIM FORM TO FILL OUT, IN WHICH I DIDNT BECAUSE I DIDNT TRUST WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH HIM. HE LIVES IN FLORIDA AND I LIVE IN GEORGIA. I FEEL HE IS TRYING TO GET ME TO SIGN OFF ON THIS DEED BECAUSE WE'RE NOT SPEAKING. IF HE'S TRULY MARRIED WHAT RIGHTS DO I HAVE NOW AS FAR AS THIS HOUSE? AND CAN HE ADD HIS NEW WIFE ON THE DEEDS?

Hi dawas,

if he has signed over the property to you, then you are the owner of the property now and he cannot force you sign back the property to him. He will not even be able to add his new wife to the deed without your consent. If he does so, it would considered as illegal.

Take Care.

i concur. dawas, your first line says you own the house. if that's true, then you don't run any risk of losing it without your own say-so.

I agree 100%, there is nothing your father can do, it sounds like when he signed the house over to you, he took his name off and you are the sole owner. The only way that he and/or his wife can get back on the deed is by you signing a quit claim deed - you are safe! You are in control.
