I own a house with my domestic partner. Both of our names are on the title and on the mortgage. If we split up, and he signs a quit claim deed, can I simply have the mortgage transferred to my name?

Hi Guest!

Welcome to forums!

Your partner can transfer the property to your by using a quitclaim deed. However, in order to transfer the mortgage, you'll have to either go for a refinance or a novation.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
