Dear Community,

Please advise me on the following. My mother and father jointly owned their home, recently my mother passed away after a short illness. My father wants to give me the house and then move in with me and my husband in our home. What is the best way to handle this?

Hi tbearr,

Welcome to the forums.

You father needs to file an affidavit of heirship. Know more on how to transfer a deceased person's property from a previous discussion in the forums.

Take Care
