My divorce decree (issued in Texas) states that the home my ex and I both still own will be put up for sale after our daughter turns 18. Over a year has passed since our divorce was final. My ex has agreed that he is willing to sign over his interest in the property in order for me to refinance under my name only. However, the lender I've contacted has said a QCD will not suffice. I've been told I must get an attorney and have them file an amendment to the decree in order to proceed with the loan process. I was hoping for a simple solution that did not involve lawyer fees and waiting up to 90 days for the filing to be completed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

if you look for your states family court online you can probably find the proper forms and do it on your own. If ex is willing to cooperate, you can make it happen. In Ca all the forms are available
