My gf and I purchased a home in October 2008. In the beginning of 2009 the appraised value went up by 110,000 dollars. In August I moved out due to our differences. Now she wants me to sign away my rights to the house. Should I sign or try to get some type of payoff?

Are you both mentioned on property deed? If you both mentioned you can get your share of property ( 50% of value of home). If you are not on deed you can negotiate with your attorney.

Thanks.

this is definitely something to negotiate. most couples splitting up come to an agreement concerning the equity in their jointly-held home. you don't have a divorce court to help you out, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to get an attorney involved (for each of you, actually) for your own protection, as gunzi advised.
