in our divorce papers it sates that i have no interest in house. husband will keep it. and he has 3 years to refinance it. it has almost been a year, and now he wants me to sign a quit claim deed to remove my name. he said that it will help me get another house and help my credit. does it reallly help?
Hi drclements,
You should note that signing a quitclaim deed will only remove your name from the property. It will not remove your name from the mortgage. As far as credit is concerned, I don't think signing the deed will help you much. Before taking any step, I would suggest you to contact your attorney and take his opinion in this issue.

yes don not sign any quit claim deed as you will be llosing your right from the property. First ask your ex Husband to refinance mortgage in his name. other wise he may delay refinancing process
