My husband and I have divorced. We split the mortgage note and I was to calim the property taxes on my income tax return.

I had a question regarding the 109 sent and when I called the mortgage company they said they could not disclose any information because I was not financially responsible for the mortgage.

They did say that I have a right to the property.

What does this mean? How can I find out if I am on the title?

This means you are NOT on the mortgage but may be on the title . Meaning you have no financial responsibilty but you have a vested interest in the property. County records will help with this, or find your mortgage papers there may be a deed in there that you signed. If you divorced you may have signed something then as well. If he continues to be the note holder he can contact the mortgage company and give them permission to talk to you.

To Robin,

It does look like you're on the property title, while the mortgage is still in your ex-husband's name. You're not financially responsible for the mortgage debt, though you have an ownership interest in the property. If you're not sure if your name is on the property title, you can check it out with the county recorder's office. You will get to know who is listed on the property title as the legal owner.

let me just add...if you are not financially responsible, that doesn't mean you won't want to ensure that the mortgage gets paid. if your former spouse is liable, for example, and fails to make payments, you can be in jeopardy of a foreclosure.

if you need to make payments, make them, regardless of your liability.
