my wife died and my name was not on the deed can i make a loan on the house... i need to get a loan on the house to pay for delinquent property taxes

Hi dgross,

Unless your name is mentioned on the property deed, you won't be able to take out a mortgage on the property. You'll have to file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in your name. Once you become the owner of the property, you will be able to get a mortgage in your name.
