My boyfriend's mom and dad wants to give us 5 acres of land to build a home on. They have around 50 acres. But they did not file taxes on the property or paid property taxes so they filed bk about 2 years ago. So my question is can they still give us the land? and Can we do this a quick claim deed? We are willing to pay the taxes on the acres.

Hi karenmiley,

If they still own the land, then they can sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the property to you. However, it will be better if you could consult an attorney before the property transfer and take his or her opinion in this matter.

Thanks
