My Boyfriend and I just purchased a house together I am a Co-Borrower
he still is legally married (sepereated for 13 years) and we were told to have a Quick Claim Deed filed and for his wife to sign off on it! If she does am I to be added to the deed?

Hi R,

Great question! I believe you should consult the advise of a real estate or estate planning attorney being that he is still legaly married. If you co-signed on the loan you should be on title. Check the documents you signed with the notary to very and of course, check that you did not sign a quit-claim deed.

Best O' Luck

Hi rmillard.

Welcome to the forum.

Do you stay in a community property state? I mean where is the property located? If it is a community property state then your boyfriend's wife also have share of ownership on the property and through a quitclaim deed her name can be removed from the deed.

BTW are you also on the deed?

Best of luck,
Larry
