My husband bought a house while we were married. I signed a quick claim giving up any interest on the property. His mother lives in the house with him. If my husband dies prematurely who gets the property. There is no will currently. We are still married.

Hello Guest,

Could you tell me where you live?

This kind of property distribution depends on the intestate law of the state where you reside.

I think if there is no Will made yet, both you and your mother-in-law will get the share of the property.

Hi Guest,

If your husband has a premature death without a 'Will', then the distribution of the property will vary according to the different state's law. You have not mentioned whether you have any children or not, your husband has any siblings or not; in which state do you live? If you provide me these information, I may help you in a better way.

If your husband dies without a 'Will', generally, the Court will appoint a neutral lawyer who will look into the matter and appeal to the court so that it decides to distribute the property according to the Intestate Succession law.

yes, I agree with everybody's views. If your husband don't has a will. this completely depended on your state law. your husband's mother, children and you are all possibly to get the property. the relation between your husband and you are also important.
