My husbamand and I own 2 properties in both names and wish to put 1 in just my name and 1 in just his name. How do we do this. We have a mortgage on both.

You file a quit claim deed to remove the owner you want removed. However, in some states a marriage entitles a spoues to ownership in a property even if they are not on the deed to the home.

Hi lindakeller!

If you only want to transfer the ownership of the property, then you will have to sign a quitclaim deed. In case you need to transfer the mortgage also, you will have to refinance the loan.

Feel free to ask if you have further queries.
