My husband owns his own house and land (free and clear) no debt. We got married 2 years ago and he wants my named added to the deed with the town, so if something ever happens to him, I would have to go to court as my name would also be listed . How do we do a quitclaim deed to do this? thx

Hi ga8andrews,

Your husband will have to get hold of the quitclaim deed form of your state and fill it out in order to add your name to the property deed. He will have to mention his name as the grantor to the property and both your name and your husband's name will be listed as the grantee to the property. You can contact an attorney and get the deed drafted from him. You may even check out the sample quitclaim deed forms available online in order to get hold of deed and add your name to the property.
