how long does it take to complete a quitclaim deed

Posted on: 22nd Apr, 2009 12:25 am
attorney set up quitclaim deed in hawaii, says it would take estimate 3 weeks, its taken 7 months + still going and have no idea where the monies went to. It has been recorded at the BOC last Nov. 2008, attorney everyday has an excuse or does not return calls, would like assist on this have put call into the ODC, in Honolulu...need to get help!!!
Hi

I'm surprised that it has taken 7+ months to complete a transfer through a quitclaim deed. It should not take that long. After signing the deed, one has to get it notarized and recorded with the county clerks office. That's all you need to do to transfer the property through a quitclaim deed.

I agree, all of this has been done, notarized, recorded, but still no money received. I call on a daily basis, and each time like today, everyday there is an excuse. Okay, we're getting it done, Friday I waited in his office until 7pm, for his return from getting a cashiers check from a gentleman whom I have no clue who he is. And at that, the cashiers check was made out to his firm and had to be redone the next day Saturday and still nothing. Today still nothing, have checked with is father and nothing. I have already called the ODC office here in Honolulu, to file a claim I am the third person filing, employees are also, not being paid as well I am disgusted & stressed, angry, I need my money, I have a list of OD, retd. items on all of my bills that I have scheduled each month for payment now make bank account is in the red, my bills are ball late plus late fees, and I am charging him for all this and he doesnt care... he shoulkd be disbarred or investigated...

Hi Karen,

It doesn't take much time to execute a quitclaim deed. But it's surprising as to how it got delayed in your case. Isn't there any chance you can complain to the higher authorities about this guy who's making the delay?

May god bless you.
