I think it varies in different states. You should contact with a tax assessor in this regard ASAP.

Hi Psanchez,

A tax assessor evaluates property value for the purpose of determining your property taxes. So, I think it's better if you consult the County Recorder or Registrar of Deeds and ask about the taxes needed to record the deed as well as the mortgage. By the way, what's your state of residence?
