My grandmother and I were buying a house together. the mortgage & the house is in her name. She is moving out of the house and we are not selling. Can I do a quit claim to put myself and my husband on the deed since we will be paying the mortgage now?

Hi NaLonni,

If your grand mother is moving out of the house, she can sign a quit claim deed and transfer the property title to you and your husband. This will give you the ownership rights to the property, but it will not put your names on the loan. If you want to have your names added to the mortgage, you and your husband will have to refinance.
