Is it legal for a family member to give her/his portion of a home to their children without the knowlege of the other brothers and sisters on the deed.

It is better to inform other brothers and sisters on the deed before quitclaiming the property to anyone.

sharon, you need to consult with a legal expert - an attorney. it would seem that dad has given up his rights to the property to one of your siblings. did you have an ownership interest to begin with, or was it only your dad who owned it?

if you had an interest, then it would appear that you are protected; nevertheless, you need to get a valid legal opinion so as to be informed and protected fully.

Yes. One can transfer a property interest independent of other interest holders. This should not affect the other property interest holders' interests.
