Mom has life estate 2008 to my sister and I. Sister sends vague email stating Mom wants to get her "things" in order and says "don't be upset" I assume Mom is putting everything in a trust of some kind. I am blind sided receiving legal papers a month ago with a letter requesting that I sign over my half of WD via quitclaim deed to my sister's only child. What should I do?

Hi JoAnn,

It will be your discretion whether or not you want to transfer your share of the property to your sister's only child. You should contact a real estate attorney and show him/her the letter that you've received and take this/her opinion in this matter.

Take care.
