My ex-husband has been living in our marital home and is now requesting I sign a quick claim deed for $10.00 - we had a previous self written, notorized agreement stating he would pay me a substantial amount for the home, on a monthly payment plan. How shall I proceed to include this agreement and/or how would this effect our previous arrangement if I should sign the quick claim deed.

Hi Alice!

Generally, the grantor signs the deed unless it contains an agreement that the grantee must agree to to make the agreement binding on the grantee.

And QUITCLAIM deed conveys whatever interest, if any, the grantor has in the property. In order to determine what interest the grantor may have a comprehensive title examination must be performed by a professional.

You shouldn't take yourself off Title until hes paid you all the money he owes you. Unless the contract you signed with him enables you to be a lienholder against Title.
