She told me that she has been preapproved to refinance the house, but is asking me to sign a quitclaim deed so she can do the refinance. I am hesitant to do so as I believe that would be signing my rights away and probably my 9000 dollars. She is not a trustworthy soul and nothing says I would get my 9000 from her after the closing. Any Advice?

Hi redbones,

It is true that you would lose the ownership of the property if you sign a quitclaim deed in her favor. You can ask her to include a clause in the deed stating that you would receive your dollars at the closing.

Thanks
