Good Morning, my name is Gayle, and I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I have a friend that owned her home for about 20 years, she married in 2003. My friend added her spouse 's name on to her home in October 2003, and refinanced her home. This year he begin using drugs. She wants tos remove his name off of her property. How can she do it herself? Will she need an attorney? What will she have to do? She has had this property for at least

Hi populationent,

Since your friend's spouse is on the title, he co-owns the property with her. He has an interest in the property. He cannot be forced to give up his interest. Your friend can get his name off the loan, only if he agrees to sign a quitclaim deed and transfers his property interest to you.

Thanks,

Jerry
