I quick claimed the house to my soon to be ex husband. I thought this removed me from any responsibilty relative to payments but I am finding that is not the case. Now he is not making the payments & telling me I am responsible to make them as it is my credit that will be ruined. He has me over a barrell. Is there any legal way for me to get the house deed back to me since I am the one financing it?

Hi kathryn,

You will have to ask him to sign back the quitclaim deed in your favor and then you can start paying off the mortgage dues yourself. This will help you in getting the property and the mortgage both in your name.

Thanks
