Hi. I am 66 and own a condo which is half paid for. I would like to add my partner on the deed. But I am concerned that should I become ill and need long term care requiring going on medicaid, can the state force my partner to seel the condo?

Hi Mary!

Welcome to forums!

If you transfer the property to your partner now, you would become ineligible for Medicaid benefits in the next 5 years. If you remain the owner of the property, then the Medicaid can place a lien on it in order to recover the dues.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
