Confused HI I have been with my boyfriend for 18 yrs. I'm 55 we are not married we live in WA state ,we have always kept our property ,banking etc. seperate. I have two children that i would like to leave my property to . I have been thinking of seperating with my friend . Should i quick claim my property that i have had before i met the boyfriend to my children now ,so that he can not have any claim to it ? And do i need a attorney.

Hi moe,

You've mentioned that both of you have kept your property, banking, etc. separate. If your boyfriend's name is not on the property deed, then he won't be able to claim your property. You can always quitclaim the property to your children so that they would get the property. You would not require your boyfriend's permission to do so as he is not the owner of your property.

Take care.
