My 82 y.o. father has terminal cancer and is still married to my 80 y.o. mother. My father recorded a quit claim deed adding my sister's name. He also bought her a mercedes benz. This is all to thank her for taking him to doctor for treatments. She lives in the home, doesn't lift a finger to help and has refused to pay half of the property taxes. It seems to be a case of undue influence. What options do me and my other siblings have, if any.

Hi Norma,

You hardly have anything to do in this regard as your sister's name is mentioned in the quitclaim deed as one of the owners of the property. Whether or not she pays the property taxes, she will have the rights to live in that property. Nevertheless, you may contact a real estate attorney and take his opinion in this regard.

It's his money and he can do whatever he wants with it - there's nothing you can do unless he's mentally incompetent, and you'd have to prove that.
