My dad had me put on his title after my mom died. I don't want the property and signed a quitdeed back to my dad who has since died. I have been told this was the wrong thing to do. The mortgage is only under my father's name. My name is not on any loan papers, nor did I signed any loan papers. I am now being sued by the mortgage company. I am confused about what to do. I have no interest in the property.

Hi lbeiramee,

If your name is not on the mortgage docs, then the lender cannot sue you for the loan. This is because you are not responsible for the loan payment. The lender may foreclose the property and recover his dues. He cannot make you liable for the deficient amount resulting from the sale of the property. If the lender is forcing you for payments, you may contact an attorney and take legal steps against hm.

Tale care.
