We would like to do a quitclaim deed transferring a timeshare condo in South Carolina from my father in law/mother in law to my husband and I. We already pay all taxes, maintenance fees, etc. Can you tell me if we take the form to the attorney (we live in Georgia) and does it have to be a real estate attorney? After we have it prepared, signed, notarized and witnessed... we then just mail it to the county records office??? Thank you so much!

Some states use attorney for settlement and title, some use title/escrow companies. Contact a title company and explain what you want, and they will help you complete and record the proper documents.

Hi astephens,

You could show it to a real estate attorney based in your state in order to find out whether the deed is correctly filled out. Then you can notarize and record the deed at the county recorder's office.

Thanks
