The recordation exam includes a fee charged by the title company. The title company reviews documents to ensure that they meet the standards before being recorded. The recordation exam is often included within the title insurance fee.

Unlike the recordation exam, recording fee refers to the government charges for reporting the purchase or sale of a property into the public records.
