My ex husband was given our house with the knowledge on the divorce papers that he had 30 days to get the house refinanced and have my name taken off the loan. However, he was not able to get it refinanced and is now file bankrupt. I know this is going to affect me but how and to what extent? Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening?

Hi Jasejax,

Did you make a written agreement that you husband should refinance the loan in a few days after the house was transferred to him? If not, then it's difficult to fight out a legal case against him.

As for the bankruptcy, what type of debts did he include in it? Which chapter has he filed? Is your name there on any of the debts for which he filed bankruptcy?
