i have come to the understanding that if you do a quit claim deed and still owe on a home you, you still can be affected if the "acceptee" does not pay the mortgage.
divorced (as of april 2009), i want to get my name of the loan. i have asked the ex to re finance but it is taking forever. i recently received the info for taxes/interest paid on the property for this year. the payer's social is my ex can i still claim the taxes paid on the home as my name and my ex's name is listed as the payer's/borrower's name?
Hi Guest,

If your name is on the mortgage docs and if you've paid the monthly dues, you would be able to claim the deductions while you pay the taxes. If your name is not on the mortgage docs, you won't be able to claim the deductions.
