My husband was given the family home in a divorce. He refinanced the home and put his ex on the deed so that in case anything happened to him the home would not go into probate. He did not know that he gave her authority regarding decisions made about the house. He now wants to take her off the deed but she won't sign a quick claim. Is there anything he can do?

Hi sass!

Welcome to forums!

Unless your husband's ex signs the quitclaim deed, your husband won't be able to remove her from the property. She will have equal ownership rights along with your husband.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Me again,
Just does not seem fair that his ex has equal rights and does not pay a cent for home mortgage or any form of care for the home.

Hi Annie,

As your husband's ex-partner's name is mentioned on the property deed, she will have equal rights to the property, irrespective of whether or not she pays off the loan.

Thanks
