Because my credit was bad when we decided to purchase our home, my husband's name is the only name on the mortgage and deed. We have experiences serious financial hardship since then and wante to know if my husband could give me a quit claim deed now that my credit is better so that I could possibly refinance in my name or get a loan to pay off our debt because his credit is now damaged and he can't refinace in his name?

Welcome llenawhite.

This is quite possible. Your spouse can add you to the title by quitclaim deed so that you can refinance the mortgage in your name. But prior to refinancing, it's better to get an idea on how it works.

To know how refinance may help you, check out the information available on the topic.

Thanks.
