i have a reversable mortgage. I used the money to put a nw roof and siding. Unfortunately the roof did a lot of damage to the house and molding of my kitchen and bath had to be pulled out. Is it now possible now to get a home improvement loan of about $25,000

jane, i don't know the likelihood of your obtaining a home improvement loan, but i would certainly suggest you check around with local lenders - banks, credit unions, etc. to make that determination.

it is disturbing to learn that the new roof would have resulted in such damage. did the contractor who did the work have adequate insurance to cover such an occurrence? it might be wise for you to discuss this with your attorney - get one if you don't have one, or at least have a conversation with one - i'd think that insurance of a contractor might just cover such damage.

if not, it would certainly seem like an apt reason for a suit against that contractor. i wish you well.
