I recently got laid off in Feb and closed October 28th 2010. I was told that I did not qualify for a remod however, I could take advantage of the Unemployment Benefits Program. I have a little over 5, 000 in equity will this be affected?

Hi Yvette!

Welcome to forums!

As you're unemployed, it won't be possible for you to qualify for a loan modification program. You can go for the Unemployment Benefits Program. I don't think the equity in the property will be affected. But, it will be better if you could have a word with your lender in this regard and then take a decision.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
