My mother died with no will and three daughters. Two of us are living in her home, making the mortgage payments each month. Today, the mortgage company calls and says I need to either refinance (which I doubt I have the credit for) or to have mine and my sisters name put on the deed. How would I go about doing that, and how complicated is that? We live in Tennessee

Hi twylashelton!

Welcome to forums!

You and your sisters can file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in your names. Once the property is transferred in your name, you can either assume the loan or go for a refinance depending upon the type of credit score you have.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
