adverse possession?

I have 15 ac in texas that a lady has lived on for 5 yrs. I pay taxes and have no fences can she possess the land if I continue to let her live there? I was just trying to help her out., but I donot want to loose the land just because I am being nice.

Hello- Wow, interesting question. I think that applies if it's a longer period of time (like 18 years) and you have nothing specific in writing, like a lease agreement clearly stating she is leasing the land from you. The laws vary by state and I know the homestead laws in Texas are particularly unique. Talk to a local attorney there to make sure you get proper advice. Good luck.
