I need to find out which papers I need.My grandparents bought some land in Texas. My grandfathers name is on the deed.He died in 1952 and my grandmother kept the taxes paid till she died in 1993.My 2 living Uncles and the children of 3 deceased girls(1 is my mother) are all willing to let me keep the property and land.Neither of my grandparents had a will.We have a reunion in July and I need to know what papers everyone needs to sign to turn their shares over to me. Is a quit claim deed ok?Or legal? I dont intend to sell or mortgage the property later.I just want to keep the homeplace in the family.I am paying the taxes on the place, It is located in Colmesneil in Tyler county Texas .Where do I get the papers from?

Welcome Darlene,

A quit claim deed will not help you in this case. As there is no will, you will have to file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in your name. This will help you in becoming the owner of the property.
