How can we get out of having our property taxes escrowed in Texas?...We want to either prepay our delay our property tax payment for tax reasons, and our bank won't delay our property tax payment just until Jan 2, 2009, nor will they allow us to prepay our 09 property taxes, nor will they let us out of the escrow account to pay the taxes on our own. They say this is the law. Is this true/

Hi atkgolf!

Welcome to forums!

As far as I know, you can pay the taxes all by yourself but that will require the permission of the lender. In your case, the lender is not giving you the permission. If they have said its a law, then I don't think they will allow you to pay it. However, I would suggest you to negotiate with them so that they may agree but I think the chances are less.

Feel free to ask if you have further queries.
