I signed a quick claim deed to my Uncle in Feb 2003.
He is close to dying and lives in California.
He hasn't filed it in Texas where the property is and I live.

I asked him for it back on the phone today and he said he did not think his daughter would try to take my house and would try to mail it back. He is not mobile and I don't see anyone helping him in his family.

I originally signed it because I couldn't find work and thought I might loose my house back in 2003 when healing from a broken neck.

He is worth about 2.5 million and everybody is fighting over everything. I don't want my house caught up in this mess.

So the house in Texas used to belong to him and you signed the quitclaim and its now in your name? Or the other way around?

If you are worried about losing your home, i would fly out there myself and get it.

My exwife and I have been divorced for 6months. I gave her the house but nothing was written in the papers. She wants me to sign a quick deed, does this release me from all liability for the house?

Hi

Quitclaiming doesn't release you from all liabilities for the house. Through the deed you release your interest in the property. If you have any mortgage on it, then you will be held responsible for it even if you sign the quitclaim deed. Do you have any mortgage? Is it only under your name?
