My daughter and her boyfriend own a house together. Both names are on the mortgage. She has moved out. What does she have to do to remove her name from the mortgage? Will a QuitClaim work? The home is in Tarrant County, Texas.

Hi Charlene!

Welcome to forums!

A quitclaim deed will only transfer the property from one person to another. It will not help your daughter to remove her name from the mortgage. In order to remove her name from the mortgage, her boyfriend will have to refinance the property or go for a novation.

Feel free to ask if you have further queries.
