How do I get a title for a house that I am building and financing myself?

How do I obtain a title for it once it's complete? Do we have to have a closing, if so, who would we close with?
gmakerley Community Mentor Joined: 09 Nov 2007 Posts: 12330 Location: bloomfield, ct 50.03 Dollars($)	Posted: Tue Oct 20, 2009 10:39 am    Post subject: Like 0 Dislike 0 possessing a title isn't the key. it's not like a vehicle which comes with a title. you obviously must already be the owner of the land on which you are building this home. that makes you owner of whatever is on said land, as well. you should find that you are listed as owner of record in your local municipality or county, wherever the land records are maintained. go check there and you'll find yourself listed as the owner - that's really all the title you're going to need, in my estimation. okay...my disclaimer...i am not a lawyer, so if a lawyer says something different, that's going to have to take precedence over what i've opined. _________________ George M.
