My Mother owns a house in Texas that she recently took a lien against. She now wishes to transfer the property to me but I am not sure how to get that done. Please help.

This house was paid off for many years. It is in her name only. The money from the lien was used to pay other bills. I am the only surviving child in the family.

Hi albey!

Welcome to forums!

You can ask your mother to sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the property to you. I suppose the property has a mortgage on it. In that case, you'll have to refinance the loan in your name and transfer the mortgage. Once you refinance the loan, you would be financially responsible for it.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
