My x girlfriend bought a truck for me in the state of texas and the truck and loan are in her name. Is there anything we can do to make it mine such as a bill of sell?

If you have some equity in the truck you can go to your local bank and get a loan in your name and payoff the loan in your exs...Other than that, no other way. Only way off any loan, is refi or sell and payoff.

Hi bulldog,

You can ask your ex to sign a deed and transfer the property to you. Once she does so, then you can refinance the mortgage in your name. This will make you the owner of the truck as well as the mortgage.

Thanks

Wow.

Bulldog, I'm sorry you are being told you have to worry about a mortgage when the only thing you're trying to accomplish is to have the truck transferred to your sole ownership and to be responsible for the underlying loan.

A bill of sale that reflects the actual sale of the vehicle to you, coupled with whatever motor vehicle registration information is needed, would certainly serve to change the ownership record on the truck; and you'd then also be able to approach a lending institution for a new loan that would pay off the existing debt and allow you to be the sole borrower.
