friend lives in condo in Washington DC. can he add me to his deed without going thru mortgage company? what is the process?

he can do it by signing a quit claim deed. but he needs to inform mortgage company about otherwise they may consider it as a case of fraud

Hi Guest,

I agree with Eric. A quitclaim deed can be used to add your name to the property deed. As there would be a change in the ownership of the property, your friend should inform the lender about it. The lender may want both of you to refinance the property in your name.
