Sale of house lost because of appraisal

Posted on: 24th Jun, 2013 12:09 pm
the appraisal came back, price wise fine but he checked a box that there was an issue for selling the house in the future. we have an electrical tower in the back of the property but it meets all the county & state requirements because if belongs to the local power company. an appraisal we had done for a refinance in 2009 did not mention any problems with the tower. we were three weeks away from closing and now 3 real estate agents are out commissions, we lost the sale of our home and we also lost the new home that we were purchasing. also, the house located right next to us, closed this week with no problems from their appraiser and the tower is just as close to their house.the broker in charge for the couple purchasing our home has filed a complaint with the appraisal board but do we have any grounds to sue him? does his opinion mean that no one that has a electrical tower on their property can't sell their house? what should we do?

really upset in nc
Hi mcclearykm!

Welcome to the forums!

Well, you are in a tough situation. You should contact a local attorney and check out if you can sue the broker in this case.
