No case number on an FHA file that was denied

Posted on: 28th Apr, 2010 02:03 pm
Can this happen? There was no case number attached to our home appraissal, nor to the file. We were denied on Monday, and now we're wondering if it was even done correctly. We found out about the lack of number because we're working with another broker and they wanted the number transferred and one hadn't been issued. Help!
This sounds like a question you should be asking the prior lender. No case number sounds like it may have been a conventional loan and not an FHA or perhaps it was denied before a case number was assigned. If the appraisal was completed without a case number, it was not an FHA appraisal. For FHA appraisals, we are not allowed to release the appraisal without the case number.

Benjamin is correct. Either the lender made the mistake and forgot to order the case number or he was attempting to give you a conventional loan. FHA appraisal can't be completed with out a case number.
