Bankruptcy and account status

Posted on: 04th Oct, 2012 12:44 am
I just received a discharge after filing Chapter 7 today. My current Credit Score is 559, and it's showing a lot of negative items. Some accounts say "included in Chapter 7" and some say "Bad debt/collection". Is this normal? Why doesn't it all show as included in Chapter 7? I would like to try and remove some of the negative items.
Hi Cotton,

The status of the accounts which are included in bankruptcy filing should be updated as "included in bankruptcy(iib)". It is strange enough that the status is not updated. You can contact the credit bureaus and request them to update the status of the accounts.

Thanks,

Jerry

Welcome Cotton,

You can even contact your creditors and ask them to update the status of the account with the credit bureaus. Once they do so, the right account status will be mentioned in your credit report.
