Breaking lease

Posted on: 26th Mar, 2013 09:59 pm
Hi everyone! Well I've been renting a property since January 1st, 2013. There have been several problems with the property like broken windows etc! The recent problem is that the AC unit does not work. We have let the landlord know about it few days back but still nothing has changed! I have two kids... can I break my lease?
Hi Vinnyl,

You may break the lease if there has been problems with the property and that hasn't been taken care of. But there are chances that you may have to take them to the court and you may be liable for the fees.

Thanks

Hi Vinnyl!

Welcome to the forums!

You need to check the rental agreement and find out as to who has the liability for any kind of repair in the property. If it is your responsibility, then you will have to take steps to repair the AC.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
