I am sharing an apartment with my friend. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, one with an attached bath while the other has a common bath. Both bedrooms are about the same size the only difference is one having the attached bath. Now how do we divide the rent payment?

As you're just two people sharing the apartment, legally, the common bath is shared by only one of you. So, basically, both of you are getting same facilities. In such a situation, I feel that the rent should be equally divided.

Yes, the above answer should put all matters to rest but if the problem persists, then you can ask an independent person to determine the amount of rent each one of you will pay.
